The 80s didn’t just make films. They made worlds. Even the strangest titles carried a kind of handmade ambition you don’t see anymore. What people call underrated is often just work that was made with personality instead of permission.
Class of 1984 was my first movie review for our school paper. It got rejected because I was 13 and technically not allowed to watch the film. That would have raised questions that nobody wanted to answer 😁
Great selection, especially The Last Dragon. It’s one of my favorites. Truly embodies the 80s spirit and style in NYC… I was too young at that time to go to 7th Heaven 🤣
I think all of these are fair choices for "underrated," even if some of them do have cult audiences. Thank you for not making this list and putting stuff like Ghostbusters or Die Hard on it, as I will too often see in my various feeds from the usual clickbait sites.
Night of the Comet rocks.

Chopping Mall! What a classic underrated gem! 🖤 I have to check out Little Monsters, it’s been on my radar for so long!
Catherine Mary Stewart was gorgeous in Night of the Comet and The Last Starfighter.
I haven't thought about Summer School in years!
Wanted Dead or Alive is in my top 20. I haven’t watched it for a long time - but the line ‘f the bonus’ is rather memorable.
🙌
Any movie that has this logo.
Stop filling up my to-watch list! (But also, please don't stop).

Wow, people really include those films as underrated?
Children. Or algorithms, probably more likely.
