Tucker & Dale is a personal favorite! Stumbled across it in the early Netflix streaming days, go-to rainy day pickmeup

Yeah any of these would be part of my rainy day pick-me-ups.

It really took horror-comedy to a new level, and the idea of showing the movie from the "killers" perspective was awesome

Evil Dead 2 and Shaun of the Dead for sure. Idol Hands is another one I like

Not seen that one so will check it out.

Tucker & Dale is so great.

Some great ones in here. Tucker and Dale for me. I remember being at my brother's house and him casually putting it on, with me not knowing what it was. Honestly, was blown away. So funny. Been a while, I've got to go watch it again.

They are all on rotation for me when I need cheering up.

Only one I haven't seen was Deadstream. Look forward to checking it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, that one isn't really overly known, but I love it, has a good blend of silly comedy and horror. Hope you like it.

The original FRIGHT NIGHT (1985) may not be as laugh-out-loud funny as SHAUN OF THE DEAD - it's heavier on the scares than the laughs - but I think it's as close to perfect as a horror-comedy film can get.

And it's got the coolest theme song:

"The Fearless Vampire Killers". From 1967.

The guy jumping headfirst into the woodchipper by accident in Tucker and Dale will never not be funny, lol

Dear God, No comes to mind. That ending made the movie for me.

The Japanese scene in Cabin in the Woods never ceases to make me laugh.

Much, much older one: Theater of Blood. 1973. Vincent Price and Diana Rigg with gruesome (but hilarious) murders based on Shakespeare plays. Really badly cut for TV over the years, but if you can find a fully intact one, well worth a look.

Betcha didn't know there's a K-horror remake of Tucker and Dale Versus Evil called "Handsome Guys".

Daily Movie Thoughts's avatar

I did not! Will have to check it out - thanks.

I could suggest the 1999 film Idle Hands, but as an adult now, the humour might be a bit too juvenile to really land.

Daily Movie Thoughts's avatar

I will add it to my list still - thanks

Do the gremlins films count? I recently saw Braindead for the first time and that was fabulously fun and splattery.

Daily Movie Thoughts's avatar

Yeah Gremlins would count too. Good shout

Great list, these are all great movies

You forgot Showgirls.
