If you know anything about me, you will know I like watching low budget trashy horror films, for some of dumb fun and good to put on when I want to turn my brain off. and Tubi is the perfect platform to find them.

So I will be doing mini reviews, well more statements, about these films, much shorter than my other reviews, and my ratings for the films will generally be based on how much fun they are in a trashy dumb way, because not many of them are actually good in the objective sense.

All my Tubi horror film reviews

Glamping

A social media influencer and her friends who go on a “glamorous” cabin getaway that turns into a nightmare when a masked killer appears. The idyllic trip quickly devolves into a fight for survival as they are terrorized by the stalker. The film is a slasher movie that expands on a short film by director Rosemary Idisi, who won Tubi’s Stubios Greenlight Contest.

My Thoughts On Glamping

Looks great, plays flat

Glamping does have some strong visuals and clean sound design, but that polish can’t save a story that never finds a pulse, and while things look right, it all feels very empty.

Characters you can’t root for

The cast is fine, but the characters are shallow and self-absorbed, and when they finally start dying, it’s hard to care who makes it out alive.

Influencer culture overload

The setup of a group of social-media-obsessed friends glamping for likes might sound a little bit clever on paper, but in execution, it feels dated and incredibly surface-level.

Weak script

The script never actually finds any tension or high stakes, and everyone talks a lot, but nothing actually really happens.

Zero suspense

The first 40 minutes crawl by with no kills, no action, and no mystery.

Pacing problems everywhere

Scenes go on for too long, and conversations about online fame replace real dread, and by the time things finally happen, you would have checked out.

Death count: low effort

Five kills total, two off-screen, and the ones we see look decent but are too brief to make an impression.

The “horror” moments aren’t

A few creepy dolls, a trashed bedroom, and the killer watching from afar – all just eerie ideas with little conviction.

David Hernandez is a standout

Yes – that David Hernandez from American Idol, who is one of the few bright spots.

Missing the fun

There’s no energy, no bite, and no creative spark, and for a “cabin in the woods” setup, it’s just lifeless.

Dull

Glaming is just a very forgettable film, with no real tension, emotion, or payoff.

Final Thoughts on Glamping

Glamping looks good and sounds good, but there’s nothing beneath the surface.

It’s pretty much just a whole load of nothing.

3/10.

UP: Visuals, David Hernandez, professional production, clean sound
DOWN: No tension, slow pacing, dull kills, flat script, forgettable characters

Simon Leasher

A lover of cinema for over 35 years, I have watched many films from around the world in many different genres, yet I still normally always come back to trashy slasher horror films when in doubt. More

And yes, The Godfather 2 is better than The Godfather.
